Notes => | A folk tale about Salunki and peacock says that peacock took Salunki’s feet. Salunki’s legs were black and peacock’s legs were yellow. As she wanted to attend a wedding, she borrowed peacock’s feet. So, when the peacock dances, he looks at his feet and weeps. In this song, the connection of the story is that brother made his sister’s feet yellow, meaning that he got her married. So, now she belongs to some other family. Brother and sister become Vyahi* and Vihin* and bring both the families together, thus re-establishing the relations. |
