Notes =>Suimtra was the name of one of King Dashrath’s wives, i.e. one of Sita’s mothers-in-law. Hence, though in Marathi, the singer says Savitra, in the translation, it is written as Sumitra. Quite often, we find that in the ovis, the singers call a woman as Savitra, mother-in-law, or Savitra, daughter=in-law, or Savitra, sister-in-law. Savitri is a symbol for Pativrata.
