विठ्ठल म्हणीत्यात का वो तुकोबा कष्टी
माझी भरती आखाडी तुमची भरतीया षष्टी
viṭhṭhala mhaṇītyāta kā vō tukōbā kaṣṭī
mājhī bharatī ākhāḍī tumacī bharatīyā ṣaṣṭī
Vitthal* asks, Tukoba, why are you so worried
People come for my Ashadh* Ekadashi*, for you, it is shashthi
(The word’shashthi’ which means the sixth day after either the new moon or full moon is probably used here to rhyme with the Marathi* word’kashti’ which means worried. However, in the context of Tukaram*, the important day is Tukarambij. which falls on the second day of the second fortnight in the month of Phalgun)
